Welcome to the Molecular and Cellular Immunoengineering Laboratory (MCIL) homepage!
We are interested in both biomaterials and immunology. Our strategies to connect these two disciplines include:
i) Development of artificial microenvironments for effective regeneration and induction of adaptive immunity using naïve/stem/progenitor cells
ii) Targeted delivery of therapeutics for controlled immuno-activation or modulation in selective immune cell populations
iii) Engineering receptor-ligand interactions within the immunological synapse in healthy and diseased states using molecular devices
The common end goal of these research topics is the development of biomaterials-based translational cellular and molecular immunotherapies for cancers, infections, and autoimmune diseases.
